(1950 – 1998)

A Canadian Legacy

The neighbourhood sits on the former site of CFB Edmonton (Griesbach Barracks). When the base was in operation, thousands of Canadian soldiers and their families lived and worked here. The base included military housing for soldiers and families, as well as training & operational facilities. Several Canadian Forces units stationed at Griesbach Barracks.

2003

The Bailey Bridge spans across the serene waters of Patricia Lake.

(2003-2012)

New Beginnings

In 2003 the land was acquired from the Department of National Defence and stage one groundbreaking commenced, lasting until 2012. Projects completed included Patricia Lake, Bailey Bridge, Bedford Basin, Navy Plaza, Janet Griesbach Statue, Major General Griesbach Statue, Sanctuary Wood Park, and Major General Griesbach School.

2013

Ad Astra Monument

(2013 – Present)

The Vision Comes to Life

2013 to 2025 marked phase two. Projects completed included Roundel Lake, Ad Astra Monument, Village Centre Opening, Naden Landing historical tree designation, Federal Lands Initiative Sites, Maple Leaf Pond and parks, Paalika on 50 Commercial, and Jewel of Griesbach Commercial.
